On the first anniversary of the DANA — the storm that struck the southern towns of Valencia with devastating floods — we wanted to share with our cycling community the photographic project carried out by Jorge Borja (designer at CDC Sport) and Nacho Durá (from Vuelta de Tuerca). A project that highlighted the anonymous volunteers who used their bikes to deliver help where it was most needed.
In this emergency context, the bicycle emerged as a key means of transport, playing a vital role in humanitarian work. During the first days of the disaster, the devastated terrain and flooded streets made it impossible for motor vehicles to reach many areas. However, volunteers took their bikes, faced the mud and the difficult conditions, and set out to deliver food, medicine, and cleaning supplies to the most isolated places.
“Embarrados” is a tribute to those stories of effort and solidarity. Through a photographic exhibition, its creators immortalised this chapter of community resilience and helped to raise social awareness.

Anonymous volunteers:
Ordinary people who, with no prior experience, used their bikes to deliver aid.
Bike messengers and cargo bikes:
Delivery professionals who turned their bicycles into emergency vehicles.
Featured participants:
Juan Dual, Valencian athlete, influencer and volunteer.
Pablo (Bikecanine), cycling influencer and aid courier during the disaster.
Espacio Rambleta:
Cultural centre transformed into a logistics base for humanitarian shipments.
From Eltin, we collaborated during the first weeks of the tragedy, donating useful materials for assistance work, such as tyres, inner tubes, hydroalcoholic gel and other supplies that were sent to Espacio Rambleta.
