WHY IS CHOOSING A GOOD BIKE SADDLE IMPORTANT?

In this category of bike components, you will find saddles depending on the type of cyclist you are. The bike saddle is one of the points of contact between you and the bike. Before choosing your saddle, it is very important to understand your bike and the position of your back while pedalling. Each geometry and position implies a different type of pedalling and, therefore, a different saddle to avoid unnecessary uncomfortable postures.

At Eltin, we have a range of saddles at the best prices to help you choose the one that best suits your needs. Choosing the right saddle is crucial for comfortable pedalling and to avoid posture problems, pain, or discomfort.

WHAT TYPES OF BIKE SADDLES ARE THERE?

Depending on your position on the bike, you will need different saddles.

▶︎ Commuter Saddles: A 90º position is associated with a commuter bike and a high handlebar.

For these bikes, large, padded saddles are the most suitable, adapting perfectly to your posture on the bike.

▶︎ Moderate Saddles: If your bike offers a sporty yet relaxed position, around 60º.

Medium-sized saddles are the most suitable. They provide a good balance between comfort and dynamism during your pedalling.

▶︎ Sport, Road and MTB Saddles: Designed for bikes with an aerodynamic posture, these are for a 30º back angle.

These saddles are designed to be narrower for a sportier pedalling style and long rides. Competition road and mountain bikes are ideal for this type of saddle.

WHAT ARE ANTIPROSTATIC SADDLES?

Eltin’s saddles feature a groove in the centre known as a prostatic groove. Do you want to know what it’s for? It relieves pressure on the perineum area, as the angle of the handlebar and body position can cause constant discomfort in this area.

At Eltin, all saddles have a prostatic groove, except the Aris Saddle, which is perfect for beginners. With a sporty design and added gel inserts with viscoelastic technology, it allows for long-distance riding, reducing friction and providing extra comfort.

WHAT IS THE CORRECT SADDLE HEIGHT?

To avoid injuries, pain, or discomfort while riding, it is crucial to have the saddle at the correct height.

There are many methods to determine the saddle height. The most common way is by measuring your inseam, multiplying it by "0.885". Measure from the centre of the bottom bracket axle to the horizontal point of the saddle at its highest point, and adjust the saddle to the calculated measurement. This will be the theoretical height at which your saddle should be set.
